One step closer to enhancing the entire  220 kV grid in Spain. Siemens successfully commissioned the MSCDN (Mechanically Switched Capacitive Damping Network) near the Costa Blanca as scheduled in December 2004 in spite of different challenges.

Mechanically Switched Capacitive 
Damping Network
 
near the Costa Blanca, Spain

Siemens received the order in January 2004 from Red Electrica de Espana, responsible for the enhancement of the whole 220 kV grid in Spain, to improve the voltage stability with the Mechanically Switched Capacitive Damping Network (MSCDN) at the substations Jijona and Hoya Morena.
